  2. lake for storing water. Many reservoirs are
  3. created by the erection of a DAM. Smaller
  4. municipal reservoirs are usually built of
  5. concrete and hold a supplyof water sufficient
  6. to cope with an emergency. Reservoirs are
  7. also constructed to aid the control of
  8. rivers, also to maintain water levels in
  9. canals, and ensure water to supply water to
  10. hydroelectric plants.
